We are pleased and excited about your interest in Theater Arts at Gardner-Webb University! We believe that our program is one of the best in the region with a specific focus on creating original dramatic works. We have a dynamic and active theater program here at Gardner-Webb University and we hope that you will want to be a part of it.
Gardner-Webb University Theater is a small-sized theater program within the Department of Communication Studies. Class size is small, providing you with excellent access to your professors. We produce six theatrical events each year (not including summers), so there are constant opportunities for students of the theater to get involved in co-curricular activities both onstage and backstage. GWU boasts excellent facilities with two performance halls. Whether a student wishes to pursue a career as a theater professional, a drama teacher at the secondary level, or even the leader of a drama ministry, the theater program at Gardner-Webb University is concerned with developing in its students the life skills to succeed beyond the college years.
If you would like to visit Gardner-Webb during the school year, let us know and we will arrange a tour of our facilities and a visit with a faculty member. If you visit during the run of one of our shows, we will be happy for you and your parents to be our guests. GWU VIP weekends are an ideal time for you to see the campus as a whole, while meeting our students and faculty in Theater Arts.
For more information on our program, please e-mail our Director, Professor Scot Lahaie.
